First Day in Paradise

Today was a day that we will remember forever.
When we first landed in Grenada (for the record, it took us getting here to learn that it’s pronounced “gre-nay-da”, not “gre-nah-da), it exceeded both of our expectations. It was much more green than either of us had anticipated… and I mean GREEN. Going through immigrations and customs was a breeze, and then we took a taxi to our Air BnB. We showered and were excited to go exploring when we realized we didn’t have the GoPro. The last either of us saw it was in the seat of the taxi. So we tore open our 8 bags of luggage in hopes that we had misplaced it, but to our dismay, we hadn’t. We asked our Air BnB host if she knew our taxi driver or if there was a phone number we could call to locate it, but she said our best bet was to pay $10 each to take the bus back to the airport and hope that same man was there… and hope our GoPro was still there.
We hopped on the bus and Travis was not the happiest camper. He was so stressed the camera was going to be stolen, or that our same taxi driver would be out driving others around. Luckily, as soon as we pulled up to the airport- there he was, leaned over the railing in the exact spot we met him. Trav jumped out of the bus and ran to the man explaining our situation. He shrugged his shoulders as if to say he didn’t know what we meant, but when he opened the back seat of the taxi, the GoPro had fallen between the seats. There it was! We were both so relieved and were happy that wasn’t going to be the start of the trip. ðŸ™‚
We decided to walk the two miles back to our Air BnB instead of bus. On our way back we found our way to the beach for the very first time… and let me tell you, as soon as we stepped onto the sand, the view was breathtaking and the feeling was indescribable. We literally felt like we were in paradise. Travis was in disbelief that he was actually here after 10 years of dreaming about this. And I still cannot wrap my head around the fact that this is real life. This isn’t a vacation, this is our life for the foreseeable future. We both ran and jumped into the warm water and couldn’t stop smiling.
After swimming, we wandered to a local restaurant for dinner. Trav ordered fish and rice, and I got a cheeseburger. I’ve decided I will save the seafood until we are actually at sea ðŸ˜‰
Overall, today was magical. The feelings we had when we watched the sunset was indescribable. This place and this life is truly amazing and we are nothing but thankful.
